Lower Park Upper Key Stage 2 - 'Evacuated'.
On 14th July, our Year 6 children came to school dressed ready to be evacuated, WW2 style. They walked to the train station before being waved off. Their journey took them to Stockport where they visited the air raid shelters and museum. They took with them their rationed lunchboxes and dressed in WW2 style clothing. They returned by train too.
It is our philosophy at Lower Park to make learning experiences as real as possible. We may have dressing up and special theme days that help the children to remember the experiences. With this visit, the children realised what it was like to be in an air raid shelter, the trauma of war-time evacuation, household chores and much more. Below you can see a selection of photos from the children's journey back in time.
