UV in Space Science Investigation

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 3/4 Year: 2020 - 2021

For our Science topic on Light, we carried out a variety of 'missions' to support astronauts travelling into space.  Using colour changing UV beads, we looked at which materials would create the best spacesuits and which liquids could be used on their visors to protect the astronauts from harmful UV rays.  We used a control bead and the UV Sun Index to compare how successful a range of materials and liquids would be in blocking the invisible, ultraviolet light. It was a great morning with fascinating results!
